    Burlington County Prison Museum

The Burlington County Prison Museum is a National Historic Landmark designed and built in 1811 by Robert Mills, one of America’s first native-born and domestically trained architects. The prison remained in operation from 1811 to 1965 and holds the distinction of being the longest used prison in the nation. With its masonry construction and vaulted ceilings made of poured concrete, the building was also virtually fireproof and one of the first of its kind in the country. Check out the prison’s exhibits that capture the history of the building and its many inhabitants.
